Rise Up – Episode 2

Rise Up Episode 2: Hope When You Face "A New Normal"

Many of us have had to deal with the ridiculously difficult realities of facing, “a new normal.” Whether a diagnosis, relationship changes, life transitions, or other circumstances that have messed with our comfort and security, we know the emotional roller coaster that those uncertainties bring.

This week’s podcast episode brings you my friend Megan’s incredible story of surviving a stroke when she was 30 years old, less than a year after first wedding anniversary. She takes us through her valley of having to learn a “new normal,” anger at God when she couldn’t understand “the why,” and wondering what she had done in her life to cause it.

But God, in His gentle, perfect way, began to bring her out of that valley. Through simple truths, He brought her back to what was important. Then, after Dr. Oz performed her heart surgery a year after her stroke, she appeared on his show to inform women about the possible effects of the birth control pill and encourage women to know their body and what they are putting into them. He challenged her to tell her story and, “Go out and change the world.”

Join me as we listen to Megan’s story of RISING UP…

Megan Mills

Megan Mills is originally from the Chicago area (Go Cubs!), went to school in Western Michigan and shortly after graduation moved to NYC for a three month internship with an Off-Broadway company. Those three months quickly turned into a love affair for the place she has now called home for 20+ years. In those years she has worked in a variety of theatre venues backstage on and off broadway. She also studied, taught, directed, created, and produced improv for many years before having her son Judah. Judah is now 8 years old and Megan is proudly raising a New Yorker.  🙂
She can now be seen riding the 7 train, singing with her church, or playing baseball any chance she can get with her son.
